A crafter's heaven

If you are a crafter and live in Ohio, Michigan or West Virginia, and you haven't been to Crafts 2000, then you really need to visit one of their stores.  It is definitely a crafter's heaven!   My husband was recently off work recuperating from a double disc fusion surgery.  He was getting tired of sitting around, so the three of us (my daughter went along, too) drove up to their store in Monroe, MI.  We hadn't been up there in over a year.  I wish they had a store closer to our area, but on second thought...if they did I would probably be broke.

Crafts 2000 has a great selection and they also offer two programs to get more money off your order.  One is the Percentage Plus card, which offers:
  • Extra 10% off on all White ticket merchandise EVERYDAY
  • Special Promotions and offers exclusively for Percentage Plus Members
  • Invitations to special events
and then there is the Tax Exempt Membership card, which offers:
  • FREE Lifetime Membership
  • No tax on purchases
  • Extra 10% off on all White ticket merchandise EVERYDAY
  • Special promotions exclusively for Tax Exempt members
  • Bulk pricing available (see store manager for details)
  • Special orders accepted
  • State Tax Exempt Number required for enrollment
Every little bit helps when starting and running a business, don't you think?

I was looking for silk flowers, evergreens, and some basic crafting supplies.  My daughter was looking for jewelry making supplies.  She has an Etsy shop:  http://www.vampiretales.etsy.com/   Yes, she is into the whole vampire thing and it all started with what?  If you said, Twilight, you would be correct.  She doesn't sell any grotesque jewelry.  She has some very elegant pieces and some contemporary ones; such as ear cuffs.  My husband was looking for woodcrafting supplies, as he has an Etsy shop "in the works".   It is http://www.larryswooddesign.etsy.com/   He is currently working on a great product.  I'll share when he gets it posted.

Here is a small sampling of what I came home with:

I just LOVE that snowball garland!  I'm not going to use it for garland, though.  Check back in during the coming weeks to see what I designed using it.  It is a really cute idea.

OK, I hear my studio calling me back to work.  Talk to you later!

Welcome to my blog!

Hi!  This is my first blog...ever.  Yeah, me!  LOL!  I just recently opened an Etsy shop:

www.MelissasCozyCottage.etsy.com

I design seasonal decor for the home,  aprons, and other crafty items; such as shepherd hook bookmarks.  I love decorating my home for the holidays.   My cat, Shadow, is my little assistant...well, he is not so little...he's a 20lb bundle of joy!

Here is the finished product:

Yesterday, I posted a Halloween wreath, "Ghosts in The Garden":

I really like how it turned out!  The ghosts are handmade out of muslin that has been stiffened into the ghost shapes.  There is also glittery black roses and a glittery spider web bow that has a glittery black spider in the center.  Can you tell, I like my glitter?  LOL!  There are also Japanese lanterns on it.  They almost look like little pumpkins on the wreath.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my first ever blog post.  Stop back again to find out what else is happening in my cozy cottage.
